Patna : England were 132/4 in 38.2 over at stumps on the fourth day of third Ashes test against Australia at WACA Ground, Perth, Australia, on December 17, 2017, with  Dawid Malan, who had scored his first test century ( 140) in the first innings, batting on 28 in 62 deliveries hitting 5 fours and wicketkeeper Jonny Bairstow, who had scored his fourth test century ( 119) in he first innings, batting on 14.

Former Captain and opener A Cook was out for 14 while Mark Stoneman made three. James Vince made 55 in 95 balls hitting 12 fours while Captain Joe Root made 14. Cook’s poor form in the series continues. For Australia, fast bowler Josh Hazlewood took 2/23 in 9 overs while Mitchell starc took 1/32 in ten overs. Spinner Nathan Lyon took 1/28. England had made 403 in thir first innings.

England are trailing Australia by 127 runs and fighting with their back to the wall to avoid defeat in the third test. Australia are leading 2-0 in the five match Ashes series having comfortably won the first and second test.

Earlier, resuming at their overnight score of 549/4, Australia declared their fisrt innings at 662/9 with Captain Steven Smith getting out on 239. Allrounder Mitchell Marsh fell on his overnight score of 181. Wicketkeeper Tim Paine made 49 while fast bowler Pat Cummins scored 41. For England, Pacer James Anderson took 4/116 in 37.3 overs 9 of which were maiden. Craigg Overton took 2/110 in 24 overs. Chris Woakes took 1/128 in 41 overs 8 of which wre maiden while spinner Moen Ali took 1/120. Stuart Broad went wicketless conceding 142 runs in 35 overs. Mitchell Starc was run out.
