Goons destroy wheat crop on 50 acre at W Champaran village

Bettiah : A gang of musclemen carrying firearms laid siege to village Singhpur village under Mainatand police station in West Champaran district and destroyed wheat crop on about 50 acre of land by using half-a- dozen of tractors and also fired several rounds terrorizing the farmers on December 14, 2017, morning.

Senior CPI(ML) leader Birendra Gupta said that the cultivated land was ceiling surplus and was occupied by landless people for over a decade and matter was awaiting for pending in the High Court. Meanwhile, a gang of musclesmen of landlords terrorized the poor  cultivators and destroyed their wheat crops, Gupta said adding the Mainatand police did not reach the village on time despite being informed to senior police officials. Gupta blamed Sikta MLA and Sugarcane Development and Minority Welfare Minister Khurshid alias Firoz Alam for the incident.

SHO, Mainatand PS, Vinod Kumar Singh, denied any incident of firing at the village. He, however, said there was some tension at the village.
