Patna : Sri Lanka defeated India by 7 wickets in the first ODI at Himachal Pradesh Cricket Association Stadium, Dharamsala, on December 10, 2017, taking a 1-0 lead in the three-match ODI series.

Replying to India’s 112 made in 38.2 overs, Sri Lanka scored 114/3 in 20.4 overs inflicting a crushing defeat on India with Upul Tharanga scoring 49 in 46 balls hitting 10 fours and Angelow Mathews 25 not out. Wicketkeeper N Dickwella remained unbeaten on 26.

Seamer Suranga Lakmal, Sri Lanka, was declared  Man of the Match. Lakmal took 4/13 in ten overs four of which were maiden in the match. For India, M S Dhoni scored 65 in 87 balls hitting 10 fours and two sixes while Chinaman bowler Kuldip Yadav made 19. The other Indian batsman to reach double digit figure was Hardik Pandya with ten runs.
