Nephew kills Warder of Beur Central Jail, shoots himself dead

Patna : Santosh Kumar Singh, 45, a warder, was shot dead at 8.30 am on December 7, 2017,  inside the premises of high security Beur Central Jail, Patna, here by his nephew ( Bhanja) Vishal Kumar Singh, 21, who then took his own life by shooting himself. Santosh Kumar Singh was shot dead at his official quarters.

Vishal, who hails from Bikram area in Patna district, was staying with his maternal uncle Santosh Kumar Singh for the past seven years. He had gone to his village about ten days back and returned on early December 7 morning probably with a firearm, said an official of Beur Police station.

A senior police officer said prima facie it appears that Vishal Kumar Singh allegedly had an affair with the daughter of Santosh Kumar Singh, which the latter must have strongly disapproved of. Police are still investigating the matter, he said. The countrymade pistol used in the crime has been seized. Santosh Kumar Singh hailed from Punpun area in Patna district

Vishal shot himself immediately after firing on his uncle Santosh Kumar Singh. Hearing the sound of gunshots, people living in the neighbourhood informed police. Cops reached the spot but found the uncle-nephew duo lying in a pool of blood. They were taken to a hospital, where they were declared ‘brought dead’, police sources said.
