Patna : PM Narendra Modi will  reshuffle the Union Cabinet on September 3, 2017, to fill key vacancies and bring in new faces with a thrust on merit. It is, however, not yet clear whether the BJP allies like the JD(U) and Shiv Sena will figure in the reshuffle, the third since the NDA came to power in 2014. The chances of the AIADMK joining the government also appears uncertain.

Bihar CM and national JD(U) president Nitish Kumar said here there has been no talk of JD(U) joining the Union Cabinet. No talks were held on the issue between the BJP and JD(U)), said Nitish. The JD(U) recently rejoined the NDA.

BJP Chief Amit Shah and PM Modi were giving final touches to the changes. More than half-a-dozen ministers are expected to make way for new faces in the reshuffle while portfolios of some could be changed. The names of BJP leaders including Bhupender Yadav, Vinay Sahasrabuddhe, Prahlad Patel, Himanta Biswa Sarma, Anurag Thakur, Shobha Karandlaje, Maheish Girri and Prahlad Joshi are being mentioned as the probable ministers. BJP MP from Buxar in Bihar Ashwini Choubeyis also seen as a probable minister.

Union ministers Kalraj Mishra, Bandaru Dattatreya, Rajiv Pratap Rudy, Sanjiv Kumar Balyan, Faggan Singh Kulaste and Mahendra Nath Pandey had resigned on September1, 2017, ahead of the reshuffle.
