Suryapura police station housed in dilapidated building

Sasaram : Suryapura police station in Rohtas district is functioning from a dilapidated building and  police personnel have to spend sleepless night during rainy season. The then Rohtas DM S N Dubey and the then SP Gauri Shankar Rath had inaugurated the Suryapura police station in 1978 in the old building of the ‘Kutchery’ of Suryapura estate. Now the walls of the building are cracking and the ceiling leaks from several places. The police personnel use tarpaulins and umbrellas during rainy season.

SHO, Suryapura police station, Devendra Kumar Yadav said that the police station is without ‘maalkhana’ and ‘hazat’ and wireless is installed under a shed but it too is leaking from several places destroying official papers, documents and registers. The SHO said he as well as his predecessors had informed the senior officials about the dilapidated condition of the police station building several times but no action but to no avail so far.

Rohtas  SP Manavjeet Singh Dhillon said that he had got nod from the home department and the Rohtas DM had some days ago earmarked land for the construction of Suryapura police station building and he has also apprised the police headquarters of it. He hoped that the police building construction department may soon invite tender in this connection. The SP said that he was trying to shift the police station to a vacant government building for the time being.
