Patient dies after falling from bed at Motihari Sadar Hospital

Motihari :  In a bizarre incident , a patient  admitted to the surgical ward of Motihari sadar hospital  fell down from the hospital bed and  died  on Sunday night. The doctor and nurse on duty could know about it only on Monday morning. The town police was informed by hospital at 11 am o Monday for registering a case.

The incident was a glaring example of gross negligence and poor medicare  services at the Sadar hospital in East Champaran in the district . Civil Surgeon Dr  Prashant Kumar said action would be initiated against the person  found responsible for it. The  hospital  administration  tried to hush up this incident  but the police  sources revealed  it to newsmen.

According to hospital records,  a half unconscious 30 year old man was admitted to the hospital  at 8 pm on Sunday
by one Raj Kumar of Mathiya Zirat  locality. Raj Kumar said that the man was  lying on road in Mathiya Zirat and was not known to him. Dr  Awadhesh Kumar, who was on duty, examined the patient and admitted him to the surgical ward of the hospita .Dr Kumar said there was no injury on the body of the patient at that time but  his breathing was slow.

One Ramayodhya Prasad, an attendant of a patient in this ward, said that the man was crying in pain while going
to sleep in the night. On Monday morning, he was found lying on ground in a pool of blood as  he had  severe  head injuries. All the patients’ attendants  rushed  to see him and informed the  doctors.
Sources said, during night the nurse and doctor  did not come to see the patients. Police are investigating the case to find out whether  the  man was killed by somene or he  died  due to  head injury. The deceased is yet to be identified
and his post- mortem report is awaited. A social activist has informed Biahr HUman Rights Commission about the incident.
