Ara : Hundreds of railways employees staged a day long dharna at Ara railway station under the banner of East Central Railway Karmchari Union on March 16, 2017, in protest against alleged anti-employee policy of the Central government. Led by Manoj Kumar Pandey, president, East Central Railway Karmchari Union, they took out a procession that passed through the main thoroughfares of the town and culminated at Ara railway station where day staged a day long dharna. They were citing slogans against the central government.
Manoj Kumar Pandey said that amendment in the 7th pay commission, withdrawal of New Pension Scheme (NPS), cancellation of 100% FDI, and filling up of vacant posts at the earliest were among the major demands of the railway employees. He said if their demands are not conceded, they will stage protest at Danapur on March 23, 2017, and at Hajipur, Headquarters of East Central Railway, on March 30, 2017.
