Patna: With the arrest of four persons, Patna Police on February 5 claimed to have busted a gang of robbers, who had unleashed terror on Mokama  -Hathidah NH. They were also active in adjoining areas, Patna SSP Mannu Maharaaj said adding that the arrested persons were identified as Sonu Kumar Singh, a resident of village Kurram in Baliya, UP, Raunak Kumar, a native of village Jadua in Vaishali, Mukesh Kumar, a native of Sahjadpur in Hajipur in Vaishali, and Aashish Kumar, a native of Karkarhatta in Vaishali.

Police also recovered a countrymade pistol, 10 live cartridges, an empty cartridge, 20 looted cellphones, two bottles of chemical, handkerchiefs and gloves, one number plate, LCD used in four-wheeler, a master key besides two keys from their possession, said the SSP. The SSP had received inputs that a gang of robbers was active on Mokamah-Hathidah NH. A police team led by SP (Rural) was constituted with Deputy SP, Barh, SHOs of Mokamah, Hathidah and  Pandarak police stations was constituted to arrest the gang members.

The police team started collecting information about the gang. The cops received information that some suspicious persons had assembled on NH at around 4 am on February 5. The police team reached near Chauharmal Gate and arrested four persons from there. During interrogation, the arrested persons told police that they used to carry out vehicle checking on NH posing as government officials and  made unconscious vehicle drivers unconscious with the help of chemicals and looted their valuables. The SSP said that the arrested persons were also wanted in cases of murder and robbery. He said that members of the police team would be rewarded.
