14 Gopalganj liquor tragedy accused slapped fine of Rs 6.28 lakh each

Gopalganj: Special Public Prosecutor, Excise Department, Bihar government, Ravibhushan Srivastava on January  29 reached Gopalganj division jail at Chanave and served notices of Excise Department on 14 accused of Khajurbanni liquor tragedy regarding fine imposed on them.

Under the new Excise Act, the court of Gopalganj DM Rahul Kumar had on January 28 imposed collective fine on the accused of Khajurbanni liquor tragedy. All the 14 accused are currently languishing in divisional jail at Chanave and the fine amount is Rs. 6.28 lakh each. Srivastava, with the help of jail superintendent, served the notices  on them. He said that all the accused would have to deposit the fine in Zila Nazareth within 30 days.

The notices have been served on Nagina Pasi, Rita Devi, Kanhaiya Pasi, Laljhari Devi, Manoj Pasi, Lalbabu Pasi,  Chathu Pasi, Sanjay Choudhary, Ranjay Choudhary, Munna Choudhary, Rajesh Pasi, Grahan Pasi, Kailasho Devi and Indu Devi, all residents of Khajurbanni under Town ps in Gopalganj district. Each accused would have to deposit Rs 6.28 lakh.
