Patna: In what is seen as the biggest catch of liquor in Aurangabad district after the state government enforced prohibition across the state on April 5, 2016, 875 bottles of IMFL were seized by a team of Barun police station during routine vehicle checking at Keshaw Mor on Tuesday. Police arrested eight persons in this connection and also seized two four-wheelers bearing the registration numbers of Haryana and Delhi.

Police said that a Barun police station team intercepted two four-wheelers when they were entering Aurangabad district on Tuesday. As the cops were checking the two vehicles, they found 875 bottles of liquor concealed under the seats of the two vehicles.

Aurangabad SP Satyaprakash said that the seized liquor bottles were being taken to Danapur (Patna) to be delivered to a local trader from Haryana. He said that the district police have informed the Patna Police about the seizure and asked them to gather information about the person, who was to accept the consignment.

Satyaprakash further said that arrested persons were identified as Lav Kumar and Rohit Kumar, both residents of Rania Talav area in Patna district, while Ratan Singh, Vijay, Som Das, Sandip Kumar, Deepak Kumar and Venketesh  belong to different places in Haryana. He said that the police team involved  in this operation would be awarded and recommendations would be sent to the state government.
