Saharsa : Eight houses were gutted in a devastating fire at village Bhanwara in Khajuraha panchayat under Sonbersa Raj police station police station in Saharsa district on February 25 noon. The fire was caused by a spark from a hearth during cooking of food at the house of Sanjit Mukhia, which soon engulfed eight adjoining houses reducing all the valuables to ashes. The villagers extinguished the fire using pumping set before fire tender could reach the village. Revenue official Shailendra Yadav reached the village to assess the damage caused by the fire. Panchayat Mukhia Chandrika Devi, deputy Pramukh Rubi Kumari, RJD leader Chandan Kumar Yadav and social activist Arun Mandal visited Bhanwara.
