New Delhi : The number of COVID-19 patients being declared cured/discharged during last 24 hours dropped to 78,877 in India at 8 am on October 2, 2020, taking the tally to 53,52,078 exceeding the number of active cases (9,42,217) by a massive margin of 44,09,861. The country also recorded 81,484 new COVID-19 cases during last 24 hours taking the tally to 63,94,068. The number of active cases in the country was 14.74% of the total COVID-19 cases reported till date.  A total of 85,376 COVID-19 patients were declared cured/discharged on October 1, 2020.

Of the 63,94,068 COVID-19 cases reported till date in the country, altogether 53,52,078 patients have been declared cured with the recovery rate being 83.70%. India has tested 7,67,17,728 samples till date including 10,97,947 samples on October 1, 2020.

The COVID-19 toll climbed to 99,773 on October 2 with 1,095 new deaths being reported during last 24 hours from different places across the country including 394 from Maharashtra, 130 from Karnataka, 80 from UP, 66 from Tamilnadu, 59 from West Bengal, 45 from Punjab, 40 from Delhi, 41 from Andhra Pradesh, 29 from Kerala, 29 from Chhattisgarh, 20 from MP, 20 from haryana, 17 from Odisha, 14 from Rajasthan, and 10 from Gujarat. he Case Fatality Rate was 1.56% in the country on October 2, 2020.

The COVID-19 death toll break-up in India on October 2, 2020, is : Maharashtra (37,056), Tamilnadu (9,586), Karnataka (8,994), Delhi (5,401), Andhra Pradesh (5,869), Uttar Pradesh (5,864), West Bengal (5,017), Gujarat (3,460), Madhya Pradesh (2,336), Rajasthan (1,500),  Punjab (3,451), Telengana (1,145), J&K (1,198), Haryana (1,402), Bihar (904), Odisha (859), Jharkhand (721), Assam (711), Uttarakhand (625), Kerala (771),  Chhattisgarh (986), Puducherry (525), Goa (440), Tripura (286), Chandigarh (164),  Andaman & Nicobar (53), Himachal Pradesh (195), Ladakh (61), Manipur (68), Nagaland (17), Meghalaya (51), Arunachal Pradesh (16), Sikkim (39), and Dadra and Nagar Haveli and Daman & Diu (2 ).
