New Delhi : A total of 76,737 COVID-19 patients were declared cured/discharged in India during last 24 hours taking the tally to 55,86,703 in the country at 8 am on October 5, 2020, exceeding the number of active cases (9,34,427) by a huge margin of 46,52,276. On the other hand, 74,442 new COVID-19 cases were also reported in the country during the last 24 hours taking the tally to 66,23,815 cases till date. The number of active cases is 14.11% of the total cases reported so far in the country.

Of the 66,23, 815 COVID cases reported so far in the country, 55,86,703 patients have been declared cured with the recovery rate being 84.34%. India has tested 7,99,82,394 samples till date including 9,89,860 samples on October 4, 2020.

The COVID-19 toll climbed to 1,02,685 on October 5, 2020, with 903 new deaths being reported from different places across the country including 326 from Maharashtra, 67 from Karnataka,  66 from Tamilnadu, 62 from West Bengal, 52 from Uttar Pradesh, 41 from Punjab, 40 from Andhra Pradesh, 38 from Delhi, 35 from Madhya Pradesh, 23 from Kerala, 20 from Haryana, 15 from Rajasthan, 15 from Odisha, 14 from Chhattisgarh, 14 from Assam, 11 from J&K, and 9 from Gujarat. The Case Fatality Rate was 1.55% on October 5, 2020.

The COVID-19 death toll break-up in India on October 5, 2020, is : Maharashtra (38,084), Tamilnadu (9,784), Karnataka (9,286), Delhi (5,510), Andhra Pradesh (5,981), Uttar Pradesh (6,029), West Bengal (5,194), Gujarat (3,496), Madhya Pradesh (2,434), Rajasthan (1,545),  Punjab (3,603), Telengana (1,171), J&K (1,242), Haryana (1,470), Bihar (915), Odisha (907), Jharkhand (743), Assam (749), Uttarakhand (652), Kerala (836),  Chhattisgarh (1,045), Puducherry (539), Goa (456), Tripura (299), Chandigarh (174),  Andaman & Nicobar (53), Himachal Pradesh (217), Ladakh (61), Manipur (74), Nagaland (17), Meghalaya (54), Arunachal Pradesh (18), Sikkim (45), and Dadra and Nagar Haveli and Daman & Diu (2 ).
