New Delhi : A total of 72,614 COVID-19 patients were declared cured/discharged in India during last 24 hours taking the tally to 65,97,209 in the country at 8 am on October 18, 2020, exceeding the number of active cases (7,83,311) by a massive margin of 58,13,898. The country, on the other hand, also reported 61,871 new COVID-19 cases during last 24 hours taking the tally to 74,94,551 cases. The number of active cases was 10.45% of the total cases ( 74,94,551) reported till date in the country.

Of the 74,94,551 COVID-19 cases reported till date in the country, altogether 65,97,209 patients have been declared cured with the recovery rate being 88.03 %. India has tested 9,42,24,190 samples so far including 9,70,173 samples on October 17, 2020.

The COVID-19 surged to 1,14,031 on October 18, 2020, with 1,033 new deaths being reported from different places in the country during last 24 hours including 463 from Maharashtra, 57 from Tamilnadu, 40 from Uttar Pradesh, 61 from West Bengal, 95 from Uttarakhand, 71 from Karnataka, 19 from Punjab, 26 from Kerala, 18 from Madhya Pradesh, 24 from Andhra Pradesh, 17 from Odisha, 9 from Bihar, 14 from Chhattisgarh, 35 from Delhi, 9 from Gujarat, 6 from Haryana, and 8 from Jharkhand. The Case Fatality Rate was 1.52% in the country on October 18, 2020.
