Ranchi (Jharkhand) : Seven members of a family including two small children were found dead at at their home at Kanke, Ranchi, in Jharkhand, on July 30, 2018, early morning. Unable to bear the debt burden, Dipak Jha and 6 of his family allegedly committed suicide. Dipak Jha hailed from Bhagalpur district in Bihar.

Except for the two children, all the other family members were found hanging to ceiling of the roof at Bodya near cold storage where all the family was residing. Dipak Jha worked for a private firm and had taken big loan from neighbours for medical treatment of his young son Jangu Jha but was finding it hard to repay the big loan.

The deceased included Dipak, his wife Soni Devi, younger brother Rupesh Jha, father, mother and two kids Jangu and daughter Drishti.
As per landlord  A N Mishra, on July 30 morning he found that gate of his tenant was not opened till 9 am  after which he peeped inside the room through an open window and found several bodies hanging to ceiling after which he called the cops who rushed to the spot.
According to Ranchi SSP Aneesh Gupta, prima facie it appears to be matter of suicide by all the family members. “We are inquiring into the matter and all the bodies have been sent for post mortem. Dog squad has also been pressed into service while the landlord is being asked to give details as what he saw,” the SSP said.
“Neighbours are saying that Dipak had taken big loan for treatment of his son who was suffering from an incurable disease,” said the SSP while talking to mediapersons who along with DIG V K Homkar was present at the place of occurrence.
