Sasaram : At least 60 private schools are running under Bikramganj sub-division of Rohtas district without registration and maintaining prescribed standard violating the State Education Department directive.

District Education Officer (DEO), Rohtas, had ordered for registration of private schools by March 31, 2017, but neither the owners of these schools are showing interest in getting their schools registered nor the officials of the education department are taking any action against such schools. Officials of the education department said that a private school should have hygienic condition, separate lavatory for boys and girls, ventilated classrooms, fire extinguishers, first aid, pure drinking water, playground and parking place for buses.

But several private schools lack these facilities and the boys and girls have to use the same lavatory. At least 300 private schools are running in Karakat, Dawath, Suryapura, Nasariganj, Dinara, Rajpur, Sanjhauli and Bikramganj in Rohtas district but they do not have trained teachers. Besides, they appear least concerned about the security of the students. The students are carried in three wheelers.

District Programme Officer (DPO), Rohtas, Sayeed Ansari said that the private school owners were asked to get their schools registered by March 31, 2017, and added that they will be served show cause if they fail to get their schools registered at the earlist. He said that departmental action will be taken against the school owners defying the government directive.
