New Delhi : The massive increase in the number of COVID-19 patients getting cured continues in India reaching 23,38,035 at 8 am on August 24,2020, an increase of 57, 469 during last 24 hours, exceeding the number of active cases in the country by 16,27,264. A total of 3,59,02,137 COVID-19 samples have been tested in the country till date including 6,09,917 on August 23, 2020.

The number of active cases in the country was 7,10,771 in the country on August 24, 2020. India has reported a total of  31,06,348 COVID-19 cases of which 23,38,035 patients ( 75.27%) have been discharged.

Altogether 4,88,271 patients have been declared cured in Maharashtra, 3,19,327 in Tamilnadu, 2,60,087 in Andhra Pradesh, 1,89,564 in Karnataka, 1,45,388 in Delhi, and 1,35,613 in UP till date, according to Union Health Ministry.

The COVID death toll in the country, on the other hand, has jumped to 57,542 with 836 new deaths being reported from different parts of the country during last 24 hours including 258 from Maharashtra, 97 from Tamilnadu, 68 from Karnataka,  93 from Andhra Pradesh,  59 from UP, 57 from West Bengal, 50 from Punjab, 23 from MP, 14 from Gujarat, and 16 from Delhi. The Case Fatality Rate has dropped to 1.85% in the country.

The COVID-19 death toll break-up in India on August 24, 2020, is : Maharashtra (22,253), Tamilnadu (6,517), Delhi (4,300), Karnataka (4,683), Gujarat (2,895), Andhra Pradesh (3,282), Uttar Pradesh (2,926), West Bengal (2,794), Madhya Pradesh (1,229), Rajasthan (955),  Punjab (1,086), Telengana (761), J&K (617), Haryana (603), Bihar (511), Odisha (409), Jharkhand (312), Assam (242), Uttarakhand (200), Kerala (223),  Chhattisgarh (197), Puducherry (159), Goa (144), Tripura (73), Chandigarh (37),  Andaman & Nicobar (33), Himachal Pradesh (29), Ladakh (23), Manipur (22), Nagaland (9), Meghalaya (8), Arunachal Pradesh (5), Sikkim (3), and Dadra and Nagar Haveli and Daman & Diu (2 ).

As far Bihar figure goes, according to State Health Department, the COVID death toll was 610 in the state on August 23, 2020.
