Motihari :  About 50 villages and roads connecting them remain inundated even as the  flood  is gradually receding from the   93 panchayats in East Champaran district in North Bihar. Ponds, canals, drainage, low agriculture fields, and ditches are  full of water and in the last 48 hours 11 persons including 4 girls and 5 boys below 8 years and two elderly persons  met their watery grave in 9 different villages. The bodies were sent for post-mortem  to Motihari Sadar Hospital. The family member of the deceased have informed the Mukhiyas concerned and  police about it.

According to police sources, the deceased were identified as Vivek, Vicky,and Om Prakash of village Hardiya under Raxaul PS , Sapna Kumari  of Bardaha village and Muskan Kumari of Tikuliya village under Mufassil PS, Raushani Kumari of Chainpur village under Dhaka PS, Kailash Ram of Nawrangiya village under Lakhaura PS, Ramashish Mukhiya of village Ajgari under Banjariya PS, Raju Kumar of Harakhbara under Pakaridayal PS, Nidhi Kumari of Dalanapur village under Tetariya PS , and
Minhajul Haque of village Sapahi under Pachpakadi Ps.

According to  Disaster Management Department, altogether 16 persons had died in  the district in flood related incidents  and
administration has provided Rs 4 lakh each to their next of kin. DM, East Champaran, Raman Kumar, said only two persons had  died due to flood in this district.
