New Delhi : A total of 42,533 Covid-19 patients were declared cured/discharged in India during last 24 hours taking the tally to 90,58,822 exceeding the number of active cases (4,09,689) by a stupendous margin of 86,49,133 at 8 am on December 5, 2020. The country also recorded 36,652 new Covid-19 cases during last 24 hours taking the tally to 96,08,211 cases on December 5, 2020. The number of active cases was 4.26 % of the total cases recorded till in the country, a drop of 6,393 cases during last 24 hours.
Of the 96,08,211 Covid-19 cases recorded till date in India, altogether 90,58,822 patients have been declared cured with the recovery rate being 94.28% on December 5, 2020. India has tested 14,58,85,512 samples so far including 11,57,763 samples on December 4, 2020.
The Covid-19 toll climbed to 1,39,700 in India on December 5, 2020, with 512 new deaths being recorded in the country during last 24 hours including 127 from Maharashtra, 73 from Delhi, 52 from West Bengal, 29 from Kerala, 29 from Uttar Pradesh, 20 from Punjab, 19 from Haryana, 19 from Rajasthan, 18 from Gujarat, 15 from Tamilnadu, 15 from Chhattisgarh, 14 from Madhya Pradesh, 13 from Himachal Pradesh, 13 from Karnataka, 12 from J&K, 10 from Uttarakhand, 6 from Andhra Pradesh, and 6 from Bihar. The Case Fatality Rate was 1.45% in the country on December 5, 2020. India had recorded 540 new deaths on December 4, 2020.
