Patna : Four bogies of a stationary Danapur-Mokama MEMU train were gutted in a fire at Mokama, about 93 km from here, after January 9, 2018, midnight. No one was injured in the incident.
Four coaches were affected in the fire as the remaining 12 bogies were separated by the railway staff, a senior officer of East Central Railway (ECR), Hajipur, said. An inquiry has been ordered to ascertain the cause of the fire, he said. There was no disruption in train operations, he said.
Station staff, along with RPF and GRP personnel, made efforts to keep the fire under control until fire brigade arrived from Barh, about 30 km away, and the flames were extinguished by 3.30 am on January 10, said ECR sources. The train had reached Mokama station around 10.20 pm pm on January 9.
The CPRO, ECR, said, “Prima facie, the fire appears to be result of a miscreant’s activity. An inquiry has been ordered to ascertain the cause of the fire.” Senior officials from Danapur Division are camping at Mokama. Officials from the ECR headquarters, Hajipur, have also rushed to the spot.
