36 gamblers arrested at Ara, 20 cellphones seized

Ara : Bhojpur police, on a tip off, conducted raids at a Guessing centre in Banstaal  locality under Town police station, Ara, on August 27, 2018, late evening, and arrested three dozen gamblers and also seized 20 cellphones, two calculators, board, guessing coupons and Rs 4,000 cash.

Bhojpur SP Awakash Kumar said that he got information that gambling was going on at a Guessing centre in  Banstaal locality under Ara Town police station and immediately directed the SHO, Town police station, to conduct raid in the area. The police team surrounded the area from three sides and arrested 36 gamblers and seized 20 mobiles, two calculators, board, guessing coupons in large quantity and Rs 4,000 in cash. He said that the gamblers will be sent to jail after interrogation.

The SP said that the Guessing centres at Ara and other areas in Bhojpur district are being identified and raids will be conducted there very soon. He appealed the people to inform him about the guessing centres of their respective areas.

It may be mentioned here that guessing centres have emerged like mushroom at Bus stand, Gangi, Chitra Toli road, Bichali road, Pakadi, Dharahara, Moti Tola, Tari Mohalla, Baanstaal, Pachchim Tola, Ramgarhia, Abar Pool at Ara, Saraiya, Krishnagarh and other villages in Bhojpur district right under the nose of police administration.
