Patna: After stern warning issued to SHOs of different police stations of Patna district by Zonal IG N H Khan over manufacture and sale of liquor in the district recently, raids were carried out under the jurisdictions of different police stations on December 6 leading to seizure of huge quantity of countrymade liquor and arrest of 34 persons involved in this nefarious trade.

Even Senior SP (SSP), Patna, Manu Maharaaj had on December 1 warned the SHOs of stern action if they were found lax in taking action against liquor traders. He had also issued directive to continue raids against such traders. According to a press communiqué issued by the office of Patna SSP, seven persons were arrested and 85 litre of countrymade of liquor was seized during raids in areas under Parsa Bazaar police station. Similarly, one person was arrested and 45 litre mahua liquor was seized from his possession under Deedarganj police station.

In Naubatpur, police recovered 60 litre of liquor while Maner police arrested three persons and recovered 300 litre of countrymade liquor from their possession. Besides this, several manufacturing units were also destroyed by the cops. Fourty five litre liquor was seized by Punpun police while Bihta police arrested nine persons including a woman and recovered 120 litre of countrymade liquor from their possession. Four persons were arrested by Patliputra police and it led to seizure of 30 litre liquor from their possession while Phulwarisharif police arrested one person and recovered 50 litre liquor from his possession. RK Nagar police arrested one person consuming liquor.
