Ara : With a view to checking crime, three auxiliary police stations will be opened in Bhojpur district. All formalities have been completed and Bhojpur SP Kshatranil Singh is to send the proposal to the Police Headquarters. Two auxiliary police stations are to be opened at Manaini Bazaar and Jitaura Bazaar villages under Piro sub- division while one at village Harigaon under Jagdishpur sub-division.

With the opening of three auxiliary police stations, the number of auxiliary police stations in Bhojpur district will increase to 10. At present four auxiliary police stations are functional under Ara sub- division, two under Jagdishpur sub-division and one under Piro subdivision. At present, Manaini Bazaar falls under the jurisdiction of Charpokhari police station and Jitaura Bazaar under Piro police station while Harigaon is under Jagdishpur police station.

The other auxiliary police stations are:  Dhobaha, Sinha, Hasan Bazaar, Gajrajganj, Karnamepur, Khawaspur, Bahoranpur of which only Gajrajgan auxiliary police station has its own building. Besides, Bhojpur district has 29 police stations.

Ara Town Police Station, Nawada Police Station, Ara Muffassil Police Station, Krishnagarha police station, Barhara police station, Koelwar police station, Chandi police station, Sandesh police station, Pawana police station, Garhari police station, Udwantnagar police station, SC-ST police station, Women police station fall under  Ara sub-division while Jagdishpur police station, Dhangai police station, Ayar police station, Shahpur police station and Bihia police station under Jagdishpur sub-division. Piro police station, Agiaw Bazaar police station, Charpokhari police station, Sikarhatta police station, Imadpur police station, Tarari police station, Chauri police station, Sahar police station, Narayanpur police station and Azimabad police station fall  under  Piro subdivision.

About two decade ago, three police stations were established in the three naxal infested areas such as Imadpur, Chauri and Narayanpur villages. Narayanpur police station runs in the building of another department.

Bhojpur SP Kshatranil Singh said that demarcation of some police stations such as Charpokhari police station and Garhani police station is on the card and very soon proposal in this regard will be sent to the Police Headquarters. He said that Garhani village and Garhani Bazaar are located side by side but people of the areas have to travel at least 10 km to Charpokhari police station to lodge their complain and even police have to face a lot of problem in crime control. He said that with increase in population, it is now time to demarcate the areas of the police stations afresh and open some new police stations.
