Saharsa : Resentment prevails among the residents of village Bardaha under Sadar police station in Saharsa district after the death of a resident of the village Niraj Singh, Collection Executive of IndusInd Bank, who was shot at by armed criminals on Mach 23, 2017, when he had gone to deposit Rs 21 lakh in Axis Bank on Marufganj Road, Saharsa. Bardaha residents, friends and relatives of Niraj on March 31, 2017, blocked Sadar police station chowk with the body and staged demonstration there.
They were demanding transfer of Saharsa SP, probe into negligence of private Surya Hospital in the treatment of Niraj, payment of a compensation of Rs 21 lakh to the next of his kin, and a government job to one of his dependents. Police handled the situation tactfully. SDO Saurabh Jorwal and SDPO Subodh Kumar Biswas spoke to the demonstrators and appreciated their sentiments after which they returned to Bardaha with the body. Niraj was cremated the same day.Niraj, who was shot at by criminals, died at Patna on March 30.
Former BJP MLA Sanjiv Kumar Jha, BJP leaders Niraj Gupta, Shambhunath Jha,, Prof Gautam and Vijay Basant, HAM (S) leaders Rajan Anand, Kunal Viru, Shankar Jha, Shanu Singh Rajput, Tushar Kumar Singh and Manan Singh and CPI leader Om Prakash Narayan were prominent among those participating the demonstration. Niraj, who was shot at by criminals, died at Patna on March 30.
