Hajipur : A Special Task Force (STF) team gunned down three criminals including notorious gangster
Manish Singh in an encounter at Behlolpur diara (riverine belt) Mahnar under Mahnar police station in Vaishali district in North Bihar in the wee hours on March 16, 2019. Mahnar is 52 km away from Patna. The criminals had taken shelter in the riverine belt for the past one month.
IG, Muzaffarpur Zone, NH Khan, said that one of the criminals killed in the encounter had been identified as notorious Manish Singh. He said that Manish’s two other associates, who were gunned down in encounter, hail from Samastipur
district and are being identified. IG Khan said that the STF team recovered 2 AK-47 assault rifles, one gun, one 9 mm pistol besides cartridges from the encounter spot. He said that Vaishali Police had given intelligence about the whereabouts of this gang.
Sources said that police, on a tip off, surrounded the hideout of the criminals in the wee hours on March 16. Seeing police, the criminals started firing. Police also returned the fire in which three criminals were killed. Manish Singh and members of his gang were involved the gold loot in Rajasthan and West Bengal, according to police.
