Patna :  Police have arrested 2,669 criminals from 11 districts under Patna Zone during a special drive and seized 177 vehicles engaged in illegal trade. A sum of Rs 18, 27, 600 has been realized as fine from the vehicle owners. The action followed stern directives of Zonal IG, Patna, NH Khan. Police also seized 24 illegal arms and 124 live round from the possession of the criminals.

That apart, police also seized 16,290 litre of IMFL and 5,978 litre countrymade liquor. Altogether 769 persons either involved in sale of liquor or consumption have been arrested.
Four criminals were arrested for robbing a woman of her cash in Buxar and a part of the Rs 89,960 looted amount  has also been recovered. Similarly, in the murder of Rupak Manjhi in Nawada district, police immediately arrested four accused and forwarded them to jail.
In an encounter that took place in Bhojpur district in which a police constable had sustained injuries, police arrested one person from the spot and seized arms from his possession.
Zonal IG NH Khan has directed all SSPs and SPs to carry out intensive checking of vehicles on borders of their respective districts to check illegal trade. He has asked them to ensure intensive police patrolling saying laxity would not be tolerated.

IG Khan has also directed them to ensure that no rumour is spread through on social media and if anybody indulges in such act, immediate legal action should be taken against such element.
