Motihari  State Labour Resources Department, under a special drive, rescued 26 child labourers working at 18 hotels and roadside eateries in Motihari town, headquarters of East Champaran District, on December 13, 2020. The rescued children have been kept at a Childrens Home.

Rakesh Ranjan,  Labour Superintendent, said that he along with  officials of Child Protection Council, Child Welfare  Society, and a team of policemen  conducted raids at several hotels  and eateries in Chhatauni locality of Motihari town and rescued  the  child labourers .The child labourers said they were working there for the last several years and living in unhygienic conditions near the hotels.

Labour Superintendent said that the parents of the rescued children had been informed and till their arrival the children have been kept at the in local Childrens Home. He further said that cases have  been lodged against the 18 hotel owners  concerned with Chhatauni police station s  under different Sections of  Child Protection Act. Police are  probing into these cases.
