Sasaram : About 2,535 persons including widows, differently abled and elderly persons are not getting their pension under Social Security Pension Scheme for the last 20 months under Bikramganj sub-division of Rohtas district. They visit banks and office of the Nagar Panchayat daily for the pension daily but to no avail so far.

The government had ordered to release seven month’s pension to the beneficiaries but the file is gathering dust. The beneficiaries are not getting pension after April 2015 from the Bikramganj Nagar Panchayat. Pension has been given only to 680 of 3,215 beneficiaries. The pensioners are now fed up with visiting banks and office of the Nagar Panchayat  and are now contemplating to resort to agitation.

Suresh Ram, Executive Officer, Bikramganj Nagar Panchayat, said that he had send demand to the headquarters at Sasaram for the pension amount and the amount is being sent to the bank account of the beneficiaries one by one. Ranju Devi, member, Bikramganj Nagar Panchayat, said that the government earlier sent the pension amount directly to Nagar Panchayat and the beneficiaries were given the amount by organizing camp but with the change in system, the beneficiaries are facing problems.
