Naxal outfit demands Rs 5 lakh from Baruna Panchayat Mukhia in Bhojpur

Ara : Sone-Ganga Vindhyachal Zonal Committee of banned outfit Maoist Communist Centre  (MCC) on May 24, 2019, allegedly demanded an extortion amount of Rs 5 lakh from Mukhia, Baruna Panchayat under Agiao block in Bhojpur district, Asha Devi, a resident of village Madanpur under Narayanpur police station. The extortion amount was demanded in the name of their struggle against the feudalism and corruption with a threat to take disciplinary action against the Mukhia if she fails to pay the amount within 10 day.

The MCC sent the letter allegedly signed by their Zonal Secretary Rohit Kumar. Kameshwar Singh, husband of Mukhia SAsha Devi, on May 25, 2019, evening, submitted petitions to Bhojpur DM, SP, SDO, and Narayanpur police station demanding securityto his family.

Bhojpur SP Aditya Kumar said that a government building is being constructed in Baruna panchayat. On May 24, 2019, some persons came on motorcycles to the building site and gave an envelop to the Contractor Sunil Kumar. The contractor sent the envelop to the Mukhia after which the extortion demand came to light. The SP said that the ASP (operations) Nitin Kumar has been assigned the task of investigation of the case and added that stern action would be taken against the guilty.
