Patna : World No 9 and top seed John Isner, 33, USA, entered the semi-finals (SF) of Atlanta Open tennis championship, USA, on July 27, 2018, late night, beating World No 45 Mischa Zverev, 30, Germany, in a three-set thriller in the quarter-finals.

Defending Champion Isner beat Mischa Zverev, elder brother of World No 3 Alexander Zverev, 7-5, 4-6, 6-1 in the quarters-finals. Isner hammered 21 Aces in the match to 11 by Mischa. Mischa committed 6 double faults compared to 3 by Isner. Isner won 3 break points to 1 by Mischa.

Isner will play World No 55 Matthew Ebden, 30, Australia, in the SF on July 29. In the other semi-finals World No 53 Ryan Harrison, USA, will meet World No 73 Cameron Norrie, 22, UK. Norrie entered the SF after World No 18 and second seed Nick Kyrgios, 23, Australia, retired in their QF match while trailing 5-7, 0-3 in the second set. Harrison beat World No 23 Hyeon Chung, 22, South Korea, 6-7, 6-2, 7-6 in the QF.
