Patna : World Number 3 Badminton player P V Sindhu, 22, India, entered the semifinals of Hongkong Open Super Series defeating World Number 2 Akane Yamaguchi, Japan, 21-12, 21-19, at Kowlon, Hongkong, on November 24, 2017. Sindhu now leads Yamaguchi 4-2 head to head. Sindhu had lost to Yamaguchi in French Open Super Series in October 2017.
Sindhu will meet World Number 6 Ratchanok Intanon, Thailand, in the semifinals. In the other semifinals, World Number 1 Tai Tze Ying, Chinese Taipei, will face Sung Ji Hyun, South Korea, the World Number 5. Tai Tzu Ying beat Chen Y F,China, 21-15, 23-21.
In the Men’s section, World Number 13 Anders Antonsen, Denmark, will meet World Number 4 Chen Long, China, in the semifinals. In the other semifinals, Shi Yuqi, China, the World Number 8, will meet Lee Chong Wei, Malaysia, the World Number 6.
