New Delhi : A total 18,599 new Covid-19 cases were recorded in India in last 24 hours taking the tally to 1,12,29,398 cases so far in the country at 8 am on March 8, 2021. In contrast, 14,278 Covid-19 patients were declared cured / discharged in the country taking the tally to 1,08,82,798 in the country on March 8, 2021.

The number of active cases rose to 1,88,747 in India on March 8, 2021,  accounting for 1.68% of the total cases 1,12,29,398 recorded so far in the country.  India has tested 22,19,68,271 samples so far including 5,37,764 samples on March 7. Meanwhile, a total of 2,09,89,010 people have so far been vaccinated against Covid-19 in India including 66,666 beneficiaries on March 7, 2021.

Of the 1,12,29,398 Covid-19 cases recorded in India so far, altogether 1,08,82,798 patients have been declared cured with the recovery rate (RR) being 96.91 % on March 8, 2021, according to Union Health Ministry figure.

The Covid-19 toll climbed to 1,57,853 in India on March 8, 2021, with 97 new deaths being recorded in the country in last 24 hours including 38 from Maharashtra, 17 in Punjab, 13 from Kerala, 8 in Uttar Pradesh, 3 in Tamilnadu, 3 in Chhattisgarh, 3 in Madhya Pradesh, 2 in Jharkhand, 2 in Delhi, 1 in Tamilnadu, 1 in West Bengal, 1 in Andhra Pradesh, and 1 in Bihar,. India had recorded 100 new deaths on March 7, 2021.
