16 double storey toilets to be constructed in Muzaffarpur urban areas

Muzaffarpur : Construction of double storey toilets would soon start at 16 places in urban areas of Muzaffarpur district under urban schemes of `Swachch Bharat Mission’. Double storey toilets would be community toilets and benefit several people simultaneously.

Muzaffarpur DM Dharmendra Singh said that such toilets should be constructed in every district of Bihar now as lack of toilets in urban areas often create problems for the people particularly women.

The City Commissioner, Muzaffarpur, said that for construction of double storey toilets Muzaffarpur town had been divided into 16 groups. For nine groups, tenders had already been invited, he said. District administration sources said that one such toilet would cost Rs 8.33 lakh. One double storey toilet would accommodate 12 persons at a time and have bathrooms and urinals too. It would have a water tank along with a generator set.
