New Delhi : A total of 14,199 new Covid-19 cases were recorded in India in last 24 hours taking the tally to 1,10,05,850 cases in the country at 8 am on February 22, 2021, outpacing the recoveries during the period by a margin of 4,504 with the rising trend continuing for the 5th day.  A total of 9,695 Covid-19 patients were declared cured / discharged in India in last 24 hours taking the tally to 1,06,99,410 on February 22, 2021, exceeding the number of active cases ( 1,50,055) by a massive margin of 1,05,49,355.

The active cases on February 22, 2021, accounted for 1.36 % of the total Covid-19 cases ( 1,10,05,850) recorded so far in the country, an increase of 4,421 cases in last 24 hours. India has tested 21,15,51,746 samples so far including 6,20,216 samples on February 21, 2021. Meanwhile, 1,11,16,854 Corona Warriors have been vaccinated against Covid-19 in India so far including 31,681 beneficiaries on February 21, 2021.

Of the 1,10,05,850 Covid-19 cases recorded so far in India, altogether 1,06,99,410 patients have been declared cured with the recovery rate (RR) dropping to 97.22% from 97.25 % on February 21, 2021.

The Covid-19 toll climbed to 1,56,385 in India on February 22, 2021, with 83 new deaths being recorded in the country in last 24 hours including 35 in Maharashtra, 15 in Kerala, 6 in Punjab, 5 in Chhattisgarh, 4 in Madhya Pradesh, 3 in Tamilnadu, 3 in West Bengal, 2 in Delhi, 2 in Karnataka, 1 in Uttar Pradesh, 1 in Uttarakhand, 1 in Gujarat, 1 in Jharkhand, and 1 in Bihar. India had recorded 90 new deaths on February 21, 2021. The case fatality rate remains pegged at 1.42% in India.

The Covid-19 toll in India on February 22, 2021, was : Maharashtra (51,788), Tamilnadu (12,460), Karnataka (12,294), Delhi (10,900), Andhra Pradesh (7,167), Uttar Pradesh (8,715), West Bengal (10,249), Gujarat (4,405), Madhya Pradesh (3,854), Rajasthan (2,785),  Punjab (5,754), Telengana (1,625), J&K (1,954), Haryana (3,042), Bihar (1,535), Odisha (1,914), Jharkhand (1,085), Assam (1,091), Uttarakhand (1,687), Kerala (4,089), Chhattisgarh (3,800), Puducherry (663), Goa (787), Tripura (391), Chandigarh (349), Andaman & Nicobar (62), Himachal Pradesh (995), Ladakh (130), Manipur (373), Nagaland (91), Meghalaya (148), Arunachal Pradesh (56), Sikkim (135), Mizoram (10), and Dadra and Nagar Haveli and Daman & Diu (2).
