Muzaffarpur : The railways has initiated steps to make Motihari railway station in East Champaran district a world class station to mark the centenerary of Mahatma Gandhi’s Champaran Satyagrah. Railway ministry has started preparations for it. Motihari Bus stand will also be given facelift and developed as a model bus stand.

Stone plaques would be placed at all the places related to Mahatma Gaandhi with related inscription. The lighting arrangement in Motihari town will also be improved and the East Champaran district administration will launch a cleanliness drive in all the dalit settlements and develop them as model colonies.

The centenrary function will start in the district on March 22 on Bihar Diwas and continue for one year. Noted Gandhians will be invited to these programmes. A documentary will also be made on Champaran Satyagrah and exhibited in all the colleges and universities and Bihar  government’s `Saat Nisjchay’ ( seven resolves) would be implemented at a faster pace in the district. A Coffee Table book based on Mahatma Gandhi’s life would also be released during the centenerary celebrations. A film festival related to Mahatma Gandhi will also be held, according to official sources.
