New Delhi : The phenomenal increase in the number of COVID-19 patients being declared cured/discharged continues in India taking the tally to 28,39,882 at 8 am on  September 1, 2020, an increase of 65,081 during last 24 hours, exceeding the number of active cases in the country by 20,53,886, a huge gap. On August 31, 2020, a total of 60,868 patients were declared cured.

The number of active cases in the country is 7,85,996, which is 21.29% of the total cases reported so far. Altogether 69,921 new cases were reported in the country during last 24 hours.

India has reported a total of 36,91,166 COVID cases till date of which 28,39,882 patients have been declared cured/discharged with the  recovery rate being 76.94%. India tested 10,16,920 COVID samples on August 31, 2020, taking the tally 4,33,24,834 as on September 1, 2020. On August 31, 2020, altogether 8,46,278 COVID samples were tested in the country.

Altogether 5,73,569 patients have been declared cured in Maharashtra, 3,68,141 in Tamilnadu, 3,30,526 in Andhra Pradesh, 2,49,467 in Karnataka, 1,55,678 in Delhi, 1,72,140 in UP, and 1,34,270 in West Bengal, till date, according to Union Health Ministry.

The COVID death toll jumped to 65,288 on September 1, 2020, with 819 new deaths being reported from different parts of the country during last 24 hours including 184 from Maharashtra, 113 from Karnataka, 91 from Tamilnadu, 85 from Andhra Pradesh, 63 from UP, 52 from West Bengal, 49 from Punjab, 14 from Gujarat, 20 from MP, and 18 from Delhi. The Case Fatality Rate has dropped to 1.77% in the country, according to Union Health Ministry figure.

The COVID-19 toll break-up in India on September 1, 2020, is : Maharashtra (24,583), Tamilnadu (7,322), Delhi (4,444), Karnataka (5,702), Gujarat (3,020), Andhra Pradesh (3,969), Uttar Pradesh (3,486), West Bengal (3,228), Madhya Pradesh (1,394), Rajasthan (1,056),  Punjab (1,453), Telengana (836), J&K (703), Haryana (689), Bihar (582), Odisha (492), Jharkhand (417), Assam (306), Uttarakhand (269), Kerala (294),  Chhattisgarh (277), Puducherry (228), Goa (192), Tripura (113), Chandigarh (56),  Andaman & Nicobar (46), Himachal Pradesh (38), Ladakh (34), Manipur (28), Nagaland (9), Meghalaya (10), Arunachal Pradesh (7), Sikkim (3), and Dadra and Nagar Haveli and Daman & Diu (2 ).

As far Bihar figure goes, according to State Health Department, the COVID death toll was 694 in the state on August 31, 2020.
