Bagaha : About 1,000 voters of village Turki-Dhandi under Valmikinagar  parliamentary constituency (PC) in West Champaran district have threatened  to boycott polls scheduled for May 12, 2019, in the sixth phase of General Elections 2019, because of lack of basic amenities like road to connect the village even after 70 years of the independence . “Road Nahi to Vote Nahi”, they say. The village falls in Narawal-Borawal panchayat under Bagaha -2 block.

The  villagers have  displayed various signboards on the entrance  of the village to register their protest. They have to go 5km away from the village to exercise their franchise in every election. This year would have to face soaring heat to reach the polling booth.

Many voters including Chhote Srivastava of the village  said that when the election comes leaders come to the village for seeking votes and assure the voters that  their demands would be fulfilled after the polls but to no avail so far. Local administration did nothing despite  several reminders to them about the road and shifting of their polling station. Finding no other way to draw the attention of the administration we have decided  to boycott the polls,  Srivastava said.
