Patna :  Ten labourers sustained serious burn injuries due to electrocution when an iron ladder came in contact with an over-head high tension wire near western railway crossing at Barh railway station at 11.30 am on September 11, 2018. Work on Non-Interlocking (NI) was going on there. Movement of trains remained affected till 1.55 pm after the incident. The Railways has ordered a high level probe into the incident. The Chief Engineer ( Power Distribution) rushed to inquire into the incident.
Soon after the incident, locals reached Barh railway station and indulged in vandalism. The mob also manhandled some GRP personnel there. All the injured labourers were admitted to Barh Sadar Hospital from where they were referred to PMCH.
According to reports, works on fixing high tension wire was going on at Berhna railway crossing on western side of Barh railway station. The work was going on using a ladder. The iron ladder suddenly got unbalanced and came in contact with a high tension wire causing burn injuries to the labourers, who fell on the ground.
Most of the labourers hail from Dhanbad in Jharkhand and were identified as Golu (25), Raju (24), Ravi (29), Sanjay (25), Sudhir (23), Ganesh (28), Satyendra (26), Gurudas (23), Rajkumar (18), and Phoolchand (20). All of them have been referred to PMCH in serious conditions.
On getting information, Barh SDO, Barh SDPO Kamlakant Prasad, and policemen from different police station reached the spot and tried to pacify the locals.

Confirming the burn injury to 10 workers due to electrocution, CPRO, East Central  Railway (ECR), Hajipur, Rajesh Kumar, said that the contractor had started work without blocking the power supply.
