Patna : One Vikas Kumar, 30, was shot dead and 6 others were injured in land dispute between two groups at village Darweshpur under Maner police station in Patna district at 10 am on August 12, 2018. Maner is 30 km away from Patna.

The families of Vikas Rai and Manoj Kumar, distant cousins, were involved in a long-drawn land dispute over a 11 kattha plot clashing several times in the past. A Panchayat was convened on August 12 itself to resolve the issue. But before the panchayat could start, rival groups got involved in a violent clash. The injured have been referred to PMCH after initial treatment at Maner PHC. SHO, Maner police station, said that FIR has not yet been lodged. Raids are, however, on to arrest the accused, he said. The SHO also stated that the land dispute is over 10 years old. The local police is camping at the village.
