Bagaha:  West Champaran DM Lokesh Kumar Singh on Friday held a meeting with officials at the office of SDM, Bagaha, and gave them necessary instruction regarding relief operation under the flood hit sub-division. All the officials including BDOs,COs, doctors and veterinarians were present at the meeting.

Reviewing the flood situation, the DM said that the relief work will be carried out as per Relief Code and should be  provided to the famelies which had taken shelter on embankments and other safer places leaving their houses with children and animals. The DM advised vets and doctors to go with diffent teams to flood affected areas to prevent flood related diseases. The circle officers (COs) and others have been deputed to carry out relief operation.

The DM also inspected Bagaha town protection embankment, which breached due to pressure from Gandsk near  Ratanmala (ward no.33) . Bagaha SDM Dharmendar Kumar, Bagaha SP Anand Kumar Singh, flood control division engimeers besides local people were present there. One of the locals alleged that the breach in embankment was result of nexus between the contractor  and some engineers to bag fresh contract for repair work. According  to Gandak barrage sources , water of the Gandak was receding. Meanwhile, official sources said that about 1.5 lakh people of seven blocks of West Champaran district residing on left and right bank of the river have been affected by the flood.
