Patna : Second seed & World No 4 Alexander Zverev, 24, Fermany, advanced to the semi-finals of Erste Bank Open ( Vienna Open), an ATP 500 indoor hardcourts tennis tournament at Vienna, Austria, France, on October 29, 2021, late night, defeating 6th seed Felix Auger-Aliassime, 21, Canada, in a three-set thriller in quarter-final.

Zverev, the reigning Olympic champion, beat World No 12 Aliassime 6-4, 3-6, 6-3 in 2hr 5 minutes in QF. Zverev won 2 break points during the match to 1 by the Canadian. Both the players won 3 games each in a row during the match. The German, in all, won 81 points during the match to 74 by the Canadian, who committed 4 double faultsw. Aliassime, however, fired 12 Aces in the match to 6 by Zverev, who will face World No 42 Carlos Alcaraz Garfia, 18, Spain, in semi-final on October 30, 2021, at 5.30 pm.

In the second semi-final, qualifier & World No 49 Frances Tiafoe, 23, USA, will face 7th seed Jannik Sinner, 20, Italy. Sinner defeated 4th seed Casper Ruud, 22, Norway, 7-5, 6-1 in 1hr 37 minutes in quarter-final on October 29, 2021, late night. The Italian fired 10 Aces in the match to 2 by the Norwegian. The Italian won 7 games in a row during the match to 3 by Ruud. World No 11 Sinner also won 5 break points during the match to 1 by Ruud.

Tiafoe beat 8th  seed Diego Schwartzman, 29, Argentina, 6-4, 7-6 in QF. Tiafoe fired 9 Aces in the match to 1 by Schwartzman. The American won 5 break points during the match to 4 by World No 16 Schwartzman. Both the players won 5 games each in a row during the match. Tiafie had stunned top seed & World No 3 Stefanis Tsitsipas, 23, Greece, in 2nd round.
