Patna : World No 5 Alexander Zverev, 21, Germany, stunned World No 1 and five-time former champion Novak Djokovic, 31, Serbia, in the final to lift the Nitto ATP Finals championship title at 02, London, UK, on November 18, 2018, late night, his biggest title so far.  ATP Finals is the year end tournament of ATP World Tour season. The 2017 ATP Finals champion Grigor Dimitrov failed to qualify for the 2018 championship.

Zverev beat Djokovic 6-4, 6-3 in 79 minutes to emerge as the youngest winner of ATP Finals title since Djokovic in 2008. Djokovic made too many unforced errors in the match. Djokovic had also lost to Karen Khachanov, 22, Russia, in the ATP Paris Masters 1,000 final on November 4, 2018.

Zverev fired 10 Aces in the match to just one by Djokovic. He, however, also committed 3 double faults to 1 by Djokovic. Zverev’s winning percentage on his second serve was a staggering 70% compared to just 36 % of Djokovic. His winning on first serve (79%) was also slightly better than that of his rival (74%). The German also won 4 break points in the match to just 1 by Djokovic. Zverev also won 4 games in a row in the match. Incidentally, Djokovic had beaten Zverev 6-4, 6-1 in Group Stage match on November 14, 2018.

Zverev, the 6 feet 6 inch tall German star, had beaten World No 3 and six-time former champion Roger Federer, 37, Switzerland, 7-5, 7-6 in the semi-finals on November 17, 2018.
