Patna : World No 3 Alexander Zverev, 21, Germany, World No 72 Nick Kyrgios, 23, Australia, and World No 64 Cameron Norrie, 23, Great Britain, entered the semi-finals of Mexican Open, an ATP World Tour 500 points tournament played on hard court, at Acapulco, Mexico, on March 1, 2019.

Zverev beat World No 26 Alex de Minaur, 20, Australia, 6-4, 6-4 in 1hr 15 minutes in the quarter-finals. Zverev fired 13 Aces in the match to just 1 by Minaur. He also broke Minaur’s service twice besides winning 3 games in a row. Zverev’s winning percentage on both his first and second serve ( 91% & 65 %) was much better than that of Minaur (83% & 56 %).

Kyrgios beat World No 42 Stan Wawrinka, 33, Switzerland, in three-sets 7-5, 6-7, 6-4 in the quarter-finals. Wawrinka, winner of 3 grand Slam titles, fired 15 Aces in the match to 7 by Kygios. He committed 4 double faults to 2 by Kyrgios. Kyrgios broke Wawrinka’sservice thrice while the latter broke his service once. Both the players won 3 games each in a row in the match.

Norrie defeated World No 71 Mackenzie McDonald, 23, USA, 6-3, 6-2 in the quarter-finals. Norrie served 4 Aces in the match to 1 by McDonald. He also broke McDonald’s service 4 times in the match besides winning 4 games in a row. Norrie though committed 5 double faults in the match to 3 by McDonald. Norrie will face Zverev in the semi-finals on March 2, 2019.
