Patna : Novak Djokovic ( 11,113 points) and Daniil Medvedev ( 8,980 points) remain World No 1 and World No 2 respectively in the ATP Rankings released on August 23, 2021, but with much reduced points. Djokovic, 34, Serbia, the winner of 20 Grand Slam singles titles, lost 1,000 points as he did not defend his Western & Southern Open title this year while Medvedev, 25, Russia, lost in the semi-finals of the event. Stefanos Tsitsipas, 23, Greece, who too lost in the semi-final of Western & Southern Open, remains World No 3 with 8,350 points.
Alexander Zverev, 24, Germany, has jumped 1 place to be ranked World No 4 with 8,240 points after winning the Western & Southern Open title defeating Andrey Rublev, 23, Russia, in final. Zverev is just 110 points behind Tsitsipas.
Rafael Nadal, 35, Spain, the winner of 20 Grand Slam singles title, has slipped 1 place to ranked World No 5 with 7,815 points. Like Djokovic, Nadal too did not play the Western & Southern Open. Reigning US Open Champion Dominic Thiem,27, Austria, and Andrey Rublev remain World 6 and World 6 with 6,995 points and 6,400 points respectively. Matteo Berrettini, 25, Italy, is World No 8 with 5,533 points.
Roger Federer, 40, Switzerland, also winner of 20 Grand Slam singles title, is World No 9 with 4,125 points while Denis Shapovalov, 22, Canada, is World No 10 with 3,580 points. Felix Auger-Aliassime, 21, Canada, has jumped 2 places to be ranked World No 15 with 2,828 points. Jannik Sinner, 20, Italy, has slipped 1 place to be ranked World No 16 with 2,750 points.
Grigor Dimitrov, 30, Bulgaria, has jumped 3 places to be ranked World No 18 with 2,511 points after reaching Round of 16 at Western & Southern Open. Gael Monfils, 34, France, has jumped 2 places and is ranked World No 22 with 2,503 points after reaching Round of 16 at Western & Southern Open. Roberto Bautista Agut, 33, Spain, has slipped 5 places and is ranked World No 21 with 2,405 points after losing in the first round of Western & Southern Open.
