Patna : World Number 3 in ATP rankings Alexander Zverev, 21, Germany, lifted the ATP Madrid Open Masters 100o men’s singles title defeating World N0 7 Dominic Thiem, 24, Austria, in the final at La Caga magica, Madrid, Spain, on May 13, 2018, night. Zverev, the Number 2 seed,  defeated Thiem, the 5th seed, who had stunned World N0 1 and five time champion Rafael Nadal, 31, Spain, in the quarter-finals on May 11, in straight sets 6-4, 6-4. It is Zverev’s third Masters 1000 title. Petra Kvitova, Czech Republic, won the women’s singles title.
