Patna : World No 6 Alexander Zverev, 24, Germany, drubbed World No 46 Alejandro Davidovich Fokina, 21, Spain, in straight sets to reach the semi-finals of French Open, an ATP Grand Slam tournament played on outdoor clay courts at Stade Roland Garros, Paris, France, on June 8, 2021. Zverev, who had recently won the Madrid Masters title on clay courts, thumped Fokina 6-4, 6-1, 6-1 on court Philippe-Chatrier firing 3 Aces in the match to reach the French Open SFs for the first time.

Zverev, who had reached US Open final in 2020,  won 9 break points during the match to 3 by Fokina. The German also won 7 games in a row during the match to 2 by the Spaniard. Both the players committed 3 double faults each in the match. The German, in all, won 80 points in the match to 50 the Spaniard. Zverev, the winner of 15 career titles, had also reached Australian Open SFs in 2020.
