Patna : World No 11 in Badminton World Federation (BWF) rankings Beiwen Zhang, 29, USA, stunned reigning World Champion and World No 5 P V Sindhu, 24, India, in a three-game thriller to enter the 2nd round of Korea Open, an HSBC BWF World Tour Super 500 tournament, at Incheon, South Korea, on September 25, 2019. Sindhu had also in the 2nd round of Victor China Open last week to World No 15 Pornpawee Chochuwong, Thailand.
Zhang beat Sindhu 7-21, 24-22, 21-15 in a 56 minute slugfest coming from behind at Incheon Airport Skydome, Incheon, South Korea. Zhang won 52 rallies in the match to 58 by Sindhu. Sindhu also won 12 consecutive points in the match to 4 by Zhang. Sindhu had a match point in second game but could not capitalise on it. Sidhu committed several unforced errors in the match.also
Sindhu still leads Zhang 5-4 Head to Head. Zhang will face World No 9 Michelle Li, Canada, in Round of 16.
