Gopalganj: Armed criminals gunned down a youth at Bhojpurwa Bazaar under Manjha police station in Gopalganj district on Friday evening. The assailants escaped on motorcycles. The killing created panic in the market and the shop-owners downed their shutters.
On getting information, Manjha PSs SHO Ramsewak Rawat reached there. Sensing the mood of the locals, Rawat called cops from neighbouring police stations to handle the situation. Jadopur PS SHO Rakesh Mohan also reached there on getting information.
Eyewitnesses said that Munna Singh, son of late Mahanth Singh and native of village Bhojpurwa, had come to the local market for purchasing vegetables on Friday evening. Four youths riding two bikes reached there and surrounded Munna and opened fire at him killing him on the spot, the eyewitnesses said.Later, senior police officers reached the spot and were trying hard to take possession of the body.
