Sasaram : A speeding tractor crushed to death a bike borne youth near Kali temple on old G T Road at Sasaram in Rohtas district on September 11, 2020, evening. The driver escaped from the place of occurrence leaving the tractor behind. The deceased was identified as Sudhanshu Kumar, 20, Ram Bhajan Mahto of Beladhi village under Sarigaon police station in Rohtas district.
Irate villagers blocked the road with the body and paralyzed movement of the vehicle for about two hours. They burnt tyres and damaged several vehicles and also tried to set ablaze the tractor but police reached there on time and brought the situation under control. The were protester were demanding a compensation of Rs 10 lakh to the deceased’s family and check on speed of vehicles. The blockade was lifted after positive response from police officers.
SHO, Sasaram Town police station, Kamakhya Narayan Singh, said that Sudhanshu Kumar had come to the market on his motorcycle and when he was returning home in the evening, a speeding brick laden tractor collided head on with the motorcycle killing him on the spot. The driver escaped from the spot leaving the tractor behind, he added.
